What is a cat's natural habitat?
I understand that man has let cats (The latin term is Feline Domsticus.) into our daily home's, do we know what their natural habitat is? How could cats possibly live without homes, when they are just "Kings Of The Jungles Bite Sized"? If there is an explanation, and a natural habitat, please explain.
Yup cats have the least genetic variation of all large land predators. It is the most perfectly adapted land hunter for every environment. There is very little change DNA wise between a lion, fluffy and a cheetah. A cat will probably flourish anywhere and some places have big feral cat problems. Domestic cats were on Crete over eight thousand years ago (they genetically were European wildcat but buried with owner), the European wildcat looks almost the same as the domestic. Cats were sacred to Amazons, Northern Europeans and Egyptians. Egyptians were thought to domesticate, (as in intentionally breed) first, though some sights out date. so you can sort of guess around where they developed. Every populated continent has had cats (felines), and most had breeds of lions - including North America. My guess is west asia, eastern europe/ Mediterranean region given who had them. Different peoples may have tamed different species as well and later they interbred. But it's clearly a western/ mid east thing. Amazon priestesses who lived near the black sea had cat and lion emblems, some Northern European goddess rode on cats (Freia prototype), and of course Egypt had Bast. That's my reasoning. There are were marsupial cats in Australia. Oh and early man appears to have been primarily hunted by our friend the leopard. So man's main predator is the nocturnal cat, which his why we fear the dark and modern cats dont take no guff.
