How can a PVT in the USA change his mos AFTER boot camp. From Tanks to Mechanic?
This kid thinks the USArmy is not for him etc. I have told him to speak with both the DI and Chaplin for guidence,. Any ideas how he could get into a Maintence MOS? he has worked for several years as a mechanic. Any suggestions would be appreciated.(His mother would be most grateful). As a former USMC officer I would think his only way would be to go to an MOS that is short, but I do not know the Army way to "go about it".

the DI will probably drop him for more pushups, but in all likelyhood he's probably going to be stuck until his initial enlistment is up unless there is a short and it gets added to the "Bear" program which is for MOS's with critical shortages....I'm going to bet he wont be able to change it until his enlistment is up and he chooses to re-class. Good luck to him though and if he's able to change then I wish him the best of luck
