Need to ask a Marine a few questions?
1. There are far fewer Marines in theater than the Army, does this mean that your chances of getting deployed are smaller?
2. I just got my GED and I got it because i was planning on going into the Army as Infantry. But, i've seen all this stuff about how the Army has gone soft, and i want the best training. I figure that 0311 in the Marines would be better for me, when i was young i got in trouble alot and they sent me to a Marine Corps run bootcamp. With USMC DI's so i have an idea of what its like. But i heard i need like 15 college credits?? And also i scored rather low on the ASVAB i got a 35. Could i still get 0311 with a 35?
3. I almost drowned as a kid, i can swim fine. Its just going under water freaks me out, sort of a phobia. I could do it, if i was forced. I had to do it in that bootcamp... i almost fkin drowned again tho. What kind of water related training does the USMC do? how long would i have to hold my breath?
4. Are USMC deployments shorter than the Armys?
1. The marines only deploy when the unit as a whole is combat ready. To date there are about 35% of the combat units that have not even been deployed not counting the marine reserve units.
2. Retest but study this time and try harder & talk to your recruiter about your issues.
3. The water training isn't very bad at all, you should be fine.
4.Yes the deployments are shorter 7 months.
