Is there any other UCP bashers out there?
I can't hold my peace any longer. When I joined the Army I was issued the famous woodland BDU uniform. I had always been a fan of that uniform ever since I was a child. The DCU was also a great uniform. But to my disappointment a year later after I joined we received the new Universal Camouflage Pattern ACU. I loathed this uniform since the first day I had to wear it. My first thoughts were "what jack *** came up and approved this crap?" The uniform clearly lacks common sense. It blends into absolutely nothing. I agree that Multicam might not be the best but at least it has earthly colors in it. To me all this comes down to is typical political and Army bureaucracy. Some desk jockey who has never had any field time decided to screw it all up. After two deployments in the Infantry.... It's clear that UCP doesn't do squat. Does anyone else agree?
Dude, I feel you. When we switched over to the ACUs, I lost all pride in my uniform. When we wore BDUs, I even brought as many extra pressed and starched sets of uniforms to FTXs as I could pack. I loved the BDUs and DCUs. I kept my boots shined, even in the field, and always used boot blousers to get that extra sharp look.
As a Private to SPC, I was CONSTANTLY singled out and praised for my appearance by high ranks. I loved it. I loved being noticed for the pride I took in my uniform. I put alot of effort into it.
The ACUs are garbage. Somebody got a huge kickback from whoever makes them, that's for damn sure. They are not durable, they don't blend into anything but solid grey cinder block walls, and nothing you can do can really make them look sharp to where you stand out for being squared away.
Not to mention, if you get a set of uniforms where you have that MOTHER*****ING collar sticking up that won't go down, the only thing you can do is throw them away and buy a new set. I've tried dry cleaning, pressing, and ironing... nothing f'ing works.
I remember one time, when people were still half in ACU and the other half were in BDUs, I saw a group of soldiers on the wood line doing WTT. I INSTANTLY focused on those in their ACUs and it wasn't until a second later that I realized there were other soldiers wearing BDUs standing right next to them.
I don't just hate UCP, I hate everything about the ACUs. Velcro? Seriously? You gotta be kidding me.
