Would a 20 gauge slug be brutal to shoot for fun?

I am wanting to get this shotgun for deer hunting and black bear hunting, and then fun time at the range, but using slugs. So would this 20 gauge be brutal using 2 3/4" Winchester super X slugs, just for out in the country.
Becuase my friend has some land, and we go out and just shoot things that are safe, but we shoot alot, and we use out slug guns, and I have been using a .410, and am wondering how this will feel.
