What are your thoughts about the NASA Scientists wanting to slam into the moon to see if there's water ice
Nasa Scientists are preparing 2 spacecraft to slam into the moon's South Pole to see if the lunar double whammy reveals hidden water ice. NASA's previous Lunar Prospector mission detected large amounts of hydrogen at the moon's poles before crashing itself into a crater at the lunar South Pole.
LCROSS mission, set for a February 2009 moon crash, will take aim and discover whether some of that hydrogen is locked away in the form of frozen water.
What if demolitions on the moon cause the moon to break up and the earth’s orbit is affected? Could this cause mass extermination of the human race?
And/ Or....
What are your thoughts on this?

Now that I think about it, I do remember the movie, The Time Machine. That would kind of be like that if were to happen.
Scale, people, SCALE!
The Moon is absolutely massive, and the probes are tiny. They are absolutely NOT going to have enough energy to break the Moon, shift it out of orbit, or even throw debris to Earth. Scientists don't claim to know everything, but they do know that a body with a mass of 73 thousand million million million kilos is not going to adversely affected by a couple of probes weighing in at a few hundred kilos each.
Nor is this the first time stuff has been deliberately crashed into the Moon. I suggest you look up the Ranger probes of the 1960s, and what was done with the expended third stages of the Saturn V rockets used to launch the Apollo missions, and then see what happened to the Moon with all those imapcts.
