How do i tell my roommate he is a complete moron w/o hurting our friendship?
lol, the title is more of a joke, but seriously hear me out.
My college roommate/ buddy for 12 years has money problems. I respect him, he takes out loans and works and goes to school. I had the luxury of getting my tuition paid for but i still must pay for housing, groceries, ect. ect. I work part time and make 150-200 dollars a week. I don't have much cash, but nothing to worry about.
My question, ok my roommate always complains about money, he never groceries shops because he is always broke. I spend about 40-60 dollars a week on groceries (I'm a very healthy eater, Tuna, wheat, oats, spinach. canned fruit, skim milk, turkey,ham) he used to eat it until i got pissed and said no, you never shop buy your own stuff.
But being strapped for cash he has no problem eating fastfood EVERYDAY!yeah seriously. He also orders pizza's twice a week. Buys beer twice a week. He spends probably over 100 dollars a week for all that.
How do i say, Kyle you r a complete moron, nicely? lol
well if something comes up and he complains about not having this or that just tell him that it is not your fault, you don't make enough to buy him food, and it is not your fault that he can't budget his money on things that are important. If he has no problem being broke oh well. Just make sure he understands that your food is not his food, and that you choose to spend your money on healthy food and not beer. Maybe try suggesting to him that he buy ingredients to make his own pizza or meat to make his own burgers at him. You guys could grill together or something. I had some guy neighbors that would sometimes make dinner together or for each other, because its like bonding time plus you can make a healthy meal and not spend tons of money. good luck.
