What uniforms does the US Marines wear and what is the US Marines Reserve?
I'm enlisting myself into the united states marines and I'm proud to have the opportunity to serve my country. I know that the Army and the US Marines have different types of uniforms but I'm still confused on what the marines wear because the US Army have digital, desert, and the jungle one I believe. I was trying to look up the uniforms for the USMC but I had little luck. If anyone has served in the Corps I would muchly appreciate it if you would explain this to me or link me a website that can show me the uniforms.
When I was talking to my recruiter he mentioned that there is a reserve in the Corps but I don't know if its true or not. I would want to knoe what is the 411 on the US Marine Reserve like the jobs that they have and what they do. Also I would want to know if they get the same benefits as the regular marines. Please do not answer my questions if you have no prior military service, thank you.
The army has a handful of uniforms but generally fall into two categories, the Army Combat Uniform or ACU and the new MultiCam uniforms. They do not have separate desert and woodland pattern uniforms, instead they have attempted to develop one pattern for both environments. The Marines have two basic camouflage uniforms, desert MarPat and woodland MarPat. One is for desert environments, the other is for green environments. Both services have a variety of service and dress uniforms for use in garrison. The Marine Corps Reserve is similar to other reserve forces, typically having a drill weekend each month and a two week drill sometime during the year. They do combat deployments like other Marine units, but usually less frequently. You'll have to talk to your recruiter for the benefits associated with the reserve, but as I understand it they are very similar to active duty benefits. The reserves have almost all of the same MOS options as active duty, but units located near you may not need your MOS which may force you to be assigned to a more distant unit. That may cause issues traveling to and from drill weekends. Personally I like putting on my boots everyday, not just weekends. But the decision is up to you.
